buttermilk biscuits
ingredients
- 1/2 cup cold butter or shortening
- 2 1/2 cups white lily self-rising flour
- 1 cup cold buttermilk
cut butter/shortening into flour until mixture resembles sand. mix in buttermilk until just combined.
gently pat out dough on flour surfaced until desired thickness, envelope fold dough, and repeat.
cut out as many biscuits as possible with a biscuit cutter or VERY sharp knife and bake in a cast iron skillet at 475° for 15 minutes.
serve with salted butter, jam, and enjoy!
